As The Chips Fall
The Excalibur Resort and Casino was built in 1990, at the time when Las Vegas was attempting to change its image from America’s Adult Playground and Sin City to a family-friendly city. The hotel was named after King Arthur’s mythical sword, and is an excellent location for Accorded Neutral Ground – all parties can be seen as equal when they sit at the Round Table.
When originally built, it was the largest hotel in the world, but has slipped down the scale to number 7 (based on total number of rooms). Recently, while the theme-based relics and scenery have been removed, the hotel does maintain its very own mascot – a dragon named Drake Brandt, and no, it isn’t a joke, he is a real, live, fire-breathing dragon.
